Looking at these examples to get some ideas of catches I could use for my brooch. I noticed that there must be something that gives the pin spring which is made from a piece of wire pressing in the opposite direction (Fig.1) or from a spacer. A spacer just needs to raise the pin higher than the catch, figure 2 uses the wide jump ring and figure 3 has the wire bent into a spacer. Figure 4 was interesting as half of the catch curves with the shape of the brooch making part of the brooch design.
