The Universal Traveller (Koberg and Bagnall, 1981:17) has a design process that similarly follows a cycle and mirrors the action research process. The design process is acceptance, analysis, define, ideate, select, implement and, evaluate.

Even though it seems as though action research and the design process are clear cycles, I have found them to be composed of many mini-cycles, intersecting cycles and overlaps between the two.
